Wheaton Colllege 2023 Outdoor T&F All-Region

Thunder track and field programs earn four All-Region selections from the USTFCCCA

Wheaton, Ill. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named its 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Teams recently following the conclusion of the regular season (utilizing results prior to the Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships). The Wheaton track & field teams had four selections with three from the Thunder men's program and one honoree from Wheaton's women's program. Top-five individuals in each event from each region earn All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of top-three ranked relay teams.

WHEATON'S MEN'S TRACK & FIELD SELECTIONS
Isaiah Clausen, a National qualifier in the decathlon, earned All-Region in the event.  Clausen earned All-Region with 6,700 points at the Gibson Invitational & Multi-Events Meet on April 13-14 in Terre Haute, Indiana. His effort ranked first in the D3 Midwest Region in the decathlon in the 2023 Outdoor season.

Eli Odell is an All-Midwest Region selection in the men's 400-meter hurdles for the third-consecutive year. Odell recorded the second-fastest time in the Midwest Region this spring in the 400-meter hurdles. His effort of 52.81-seconds came in a first-place effort at the 2023 CCIW Championships on May 6 and has earned him his third-consecutive trip to the Division III Outdoor T&F Championships.

Sam Elsen earned All-Region in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a school record time of 8:58.12. His effort was third-fastest in the Midwest Region this year and earned him his first career spot at this weekend's D3 Championships.

WHEATON'S WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD SELECTIONS
Junior Abi Gum earned All-Midwest Region in the women's heptathlon for the second-consecutive year. Gum's effort of 4,449 points ranked fifth in the Division III Midwest Region this spring. She will be representing Wheaton at the D3 Outdoor T&F Championships on Thursday and Friday in the two-day event in Rochester, N.Y.
