Bloomington, Ill. – The Wheaton softball team faced Illinois Wesleyan in a road doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Titans won the first game 8-0 in five innings and IWU earned the sweep with a 4-3 victory in the nightcap. The Thunder remain on the road for their next CCIW matchup as Wheaton travels to Waukesha, Wisconsin next Tuesday for a league doubleheader at Carroll.
Illinois Wesleyan won today's first game 8-0 as IWU pitcher Nina Mardjetko tossed a one-hitter. The Titans scored eight runs, on nine hits, with one error and Wheaton had no runs, on one hit, with three errors. Thunder pitcher

Illinois Wesleyan scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 4-3 victory in the second game. The Titans scored four runs, on seven hits, with four errors and Wheaton tallied three runs, on five hits, with no errors. Thunder starting pitcher

The Titans scored a run in the top of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead in the nightcap. Wheaton's
Abigail Latka hit a RBI-single in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1. The Thunder took a 2-1 lead with an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Wheaton increased its lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Madison Forberg hit a two-out RBI-single to centerfield that brought Chetakian home to give the Thunder a 2-0 advantage. The Titans scored twice in the top of the second inning to gain a 4-3 lead that would become the final result in the contest.
