Wheaton, Ill. -- The Thunder women's tennis team hosted UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon for their final non-conference match of the regular season. Seniors
Abygale Ahn and
Lily Anne Van Ye were honored for their contributions to the program ahead of their final home match. The Thunder defeated the Pointers 7-2, as Wheaton moved to 15-4 in their season overall.
Wheaton's No. 1 doubles team of
Abygale Ahn and
Lydia Adams earned an 8-3 victory over the Pointers' Tristin Jantz and Barbara Covek. Next to finish was the Thunder's No. 3 pairing of Lily Van Ye and
Alexandra Wachs for an 8-3 win over Jordan Scharf and Grace Henes. To finish off the doubles action,
Audrey Vick and
Janet Kondo earned an 8-6 victory over the Pointers' Quinlyn Mack and Chloe Leithold.
After a sweep in doubles play, the Thunder came ready to roll through singles.
Audrey Vick was victorious at line one for a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mack.
Lydia Adams won next at line two for a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Covek. At line three, senior
Abygale Ahn won 6-4, 6-1.
Janet Kondo finished off the Thunder's singles victories with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) triumph. This result confirmed a successful weekend for the Thunder, with the team going 2-0 in match play after their win over IIT on Friday night.
Wheaton will head into the postseason starting Thursday, April 20
th at 1pm in Naperville, Illinois. The Thunder will face North Park in the first of three rounds of the CCIW Tournament.
