Wheaton, Ill. -- The Thunder women's tennis team returned to the court after a two-week layoff to host the Illinois Institute of Technology for a nonconference matchup on Friday night. Wheaton easily dispatched the Scarlet Hawks to improve to 14-4 on the season.
Abygale Ahn and
Lydia Adams kicked things off with an 8-3 victory at #1 doubles, before
Audrey Vick and
Janet Kondo combined for a smooth 8-1 win in the second position. A default by IIT at #3 doubles ensured that the hosts earned maximum points heading into singles play.
Vick registered two 6-1 set wins at #1 singles to earn her second tally of the evening, and Ahn only dropped one game at #2 singles to maintain the Thunder's strong play.
Alexandra Wachs and
Janet Kondo posted dominant, double-bagel victories at #3 and #5 singles, respectively. Adams matched her doubles partner by also winning 6-0, 6-1 at #4 singles.
Wheaton will conclude its regular season slate with another home court nonconference matchup on Saturday. The Thunder are set to host UW-Stevens Point at 2:30 PM tomorrow.
