Hanover Park, Ill. – The Wheaton women's tennis team hosted Kalamazoo College on Saturday for a home indoor matchup at Centre Court Athletic Club. The Tunder came out ready to roll and topped Kalamazoo for a 6-3 victory to move 13-4 on the season.
Wheaton was victorious in two out of their three doubles matches. At line one,
Abygale Ahn and
Lydia Adams had a solid 8-4 win over Kalamazoo's Renee Torres and Sophie Zhuang.
Lily Anne Van Ye and
Alexandra Wachs added another victory at the line three position against Ivy Walker and Rebecca Elias.
With a 2-1 lead on the side of the Thunder, the team finished the job in the singles portion of the match. At line three,
Alexandra Wachs was the first to finish with a 6-0;6-1 victory against Meghan Killmaster.
Lydia Adams was next at line four playing Maddie Hurley with a 7-5;6-3 win. At line two,
Abygale Ahn posed another point for the Thunder by winning her match 6-2;6-3 versus Zhuang.
Audrey Vick closed off the singles portion with a 6-4;5-7 (10-8) win over Torres at No. 1 singles.
The Thunder women's team will return to action on Friday, April 14
th at 700 p.m.. The team will be competing against Illinois Institute of Technology at the Wheaton Tennis Courts on campus.
