Sanford, Fla. - The Wheaton women's tennis team (10-3) played the first of three matches for its three-match trip to Florida on Wednesday afternoon. The Thunder defeated Misericordia University 8-1.
Wheaton won all three doubles matches in the contest. The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Abygale Ahn and
Madeline Gentry earned an 8-3 victory against the Misericordia tandem of Brianna Pizzano and Emily Brecker.
Audrey Vick and
Lydia Adams paired for an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles against Lydia Barbour and Hailey Loughlin.
Alexandra Wachs and
Lily Anne Van Ye earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles versus Erin Cridge and Cassie Benderavich.
Vick was a 6-2, 6-1 victor at No. 2 singles against Brecker. Ahn defeated Barbour in their matchup at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-4. Wachs was a 6-0, 6-0 victor at No. 4 singles against Loughlin. Adams won her match at No. 5 singles against Cridge 6-1, 6-3.
Janet Kondo defeated Misericordia's Lauren Visalli 6-2, 6-1 in the meeting at No. 6 singles.
Wheaton takes on Piedmont tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m.
