Giovanni Weeks and Trevor Gabriele earn repeat All-American honors from D3football.com

Wheaton, Ill. – Two Thunder football players have been selected to the 2023 D3football.com All-America football team. Both running back Giovanni Weeks and center Trevor Gabriele are repeat selections having been named to the D3football.com All-America Team in 2022. The two selections this year gives Wheaton 48 total D3football.com All-America nods all-time among 35 different Thunder football players.

WHEATON, IL - The Wheaton College football team (10-1) hosted Mount St. Joseph University (9-2) in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs on Saturday at McCully Stadium, with the Thunder earning a 41-34 victory against the Lions. (Kodiak Creative/Jimmy Naprstek)Weeks (PICTURED LEFT) was named a First Team All-America pick at running back, the first Wheaton RB to earn First Team All-America honors from the website. His selection makes him a three-time D3football.com All-American, also earning Third Team honors in 2022 and 2021. Weeks is just the second Wheaton football player two earn three All-America selections from D3football.com at one specific position, joining cornerback Pete Ittersagen (2006, 2007 & 2008); Last year Weeks became the first Wheaton running back to earn multiple All-America selections from the website and the third running back overall to earn the selection, joining: Dan Price (2003) and Garrett Granberg (2004).

Weeks is a three-time D3football.com All-Region honoree at running back. He picked up his third career First Team All-CCIW award earlier this fall. Weeks ran for a school record 1,687 yards this season, a mark that is currently the highest total in Division III this year. He broke his own school single-season records with 25 total touchdowns and 152 points. The senior ran for a career-high 256 yards in Wheaton's NCAA First Round win against Mount St. Joseph, the highest single-game rushing total in the playoffs this year and the 11th-highest single-game total in D3 this season. Weeks owns a school record with an average of 12.4 points per game in his career to rank 11th all-time in Division III history. His school record of 422 career points is 25th all-time in D3 history, and he holds the Wheaton school record with 70 career touchdowns. Weeks is Wheaton's career rushing yardage leader with 4,397 career rushing yards and his 5,540 career all-purpose yards is also a school record.

Trevor GabrieleGabriele (PICTURED RIGHT) is a Third Team All-America selection at center this season following Fourth Team honors in 2022 at guard. Gabriele's selection marks the 11th time a Wheaton offensive lineman has earned a D3football.com All-America selection, and he is just the second OL selection to earn the honor twice, joining Jake Hibben (2019 & 2021). Gabriele is just the second Wheaton player to earn All-American honors from the website at two different positions, joining Pete Ittersagen who was a three-time All-American at cornerback and twice earned the honor as a return specialist. Gabriele's selection this year marks the sixth time a Wheaton center has been named an All-American by D3football.com, joining: Brian Dini (2004); Spencer Clark (2014); Kyler Kregel (2016); and Jake Hibben (2019 & 2021).

Earlier this fall, Gabriele picked up his third career All-Region recognition from D3football as well as his third career All-CCIW award. He led an impressive Thunder offensive line that is 10th in Division III in total offense with a school record of 501.0 yards per game. Behind his impressive play, the Thunder offense amassed 6,012 yards of total offense this season for a new school record, surpassing the previous record of 5,926 yards set in 2003.
