Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team hosted Edgewood College on Friday evening for a non-conference matchup to open the 2022-23 season. The Thunder defeated the Eagles 8-1. Wheaton entertains Luther College on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
Wheaton swept through the six singles matches tonight.
Madeline Gentry rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 10-3 victory in her collegiate debut against Edgewood's Cecile Fuchs at No. 1 singles. Sophomore
Audrey Vick picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles in her matchup against Jewel Lindwall. Senior
Abygale Ahn earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Ellie Murphy at No. 3 singles.
Alexandra Wachs was a 6-0, 7-6 winner at No. 4 singles against Edgewood's Evelyn Taylor. Sophomore
Lydia Adams defeated Maddy Coopmans 6-3, 6-1 in their matchup at No. 5 singles. Christina Ekkela was a 6-2, 7-6 victor at No. 6 singles against
Lily Anne Van Ye.
The Thunder won the three doubles matchups. Ahn and Gentry teamed up for an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles against Fuchs and Coopmans. Vick and Adams defeated the Eagles' No. 2 doubles team of Murphy and Lindwall 8-7. The Wheaton No. 3 doubles team of

Alexandra Wachs defeated the Edgewood team of Evelyn Taylor and Madelyn Connaughty
