Kenosha, Wis. - The Thunder women's tennis team concluded its two match conference road trip to Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon with a CCIW matchup at Carthage (1-2, 1-2 CCIW). The Thunder defeated the Firebirds 7-2 as Wheaton improves to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in CCIW play.
The first Thunder victory of the day came at No. 2 doubles as
Audrey Vick (PICTURED ABOVE) and
Lydia Adams defeated the Carthage tandem of Giovanna Mendes and Sasha Manoljovic, 8-2. Wheaton's other victory in doubles play came from the No. 3 doubles team of
Alexandra Wachs and
Lily Anne Van Ye as they topped Carthage's Luana Da Silva and Larissa Ishikawa 8-2.
Wachs picked up Wheaton's first singles win as she was a 6-2, 6-1 victor against Mendes at No. 4 singles.
Abygale Ahn was a 6-2, 6-1 victor at No.3 singles against Da Silva at No. 3 singles. Adams was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 5 singles against Sierra Sonnemaker. Vick picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against Carthage's Giana Apostoli. The final Thunder victory of the day was a win for freshman
Janet Kondo at No. 6 singles. Kondo earned a hard-fought 6-7, 7-5, 10-8 win against Carthage's Maddie Kearney.
