Kenosha, Wis. – The Wheaton men's tennis team traveled to Wisconsin on for the first of two matches in the state over the weekend. Carthage (22-2, 6-1 CCIW) defeated the Thunder 6-3 today in a conference match on the Firebirds' home courts.
Wheaton won two of today's three doubles matches. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of
Jacob Williams and
Joey Geisz defeated Carthage's Cooper Ferruzzi and Andre Antreassian, 8-1.
Jack Wenzel and
Tim Steiner teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles against the Carthage team of Myles Krzewinski and Nicolas Welker.
Geisz picked up Wheaton's lone singles win on Friday. He was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at No. 6 singles against Carthage's Nick Marino.
Wheaton is now 12-6 on the season and 4-2 in CCIW play. The Thunder conclude the regular season tomorrow against Carroll at the Princeton Club in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Wheaton begins the CCIW Men's Tennis Championships next Thursday in a return to Kenosha.
