Sanford, Fla. - The Wheaton men's tennis team returned to action on Wednesday with a matchup against Bethel University (Ind.). The Thunder defeated the Pilots 7-2 as Wheaton earned its sixth-consecutive win.
The Thunder won two of the three matches in doubles competition.
Jack Wenzel and
Tim Steiner paired to defeat Bethel's Jerad Bos and Brandon Eash, 7-6 at No. 2 doubles. The Thunder No. 3 doubles team of
Cody Ching and
David Houlihan earned a 6-3 win against the Pilots' tandem of Vansh Aggarwal and Wes Troyer.
Jacob Williams was a 6-2, 6-4 winner against Bethel's Lucca Almeida at No. 2 doubles. Wenzel picked up a 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 victory against Troyer at No. 3 singles. Steiner defeated Aggarwal 7-5, 6-1 in their matchup at No. 4 singles.
Joey Geisz was a 6-1, 6-2 winner against Jayson LaGrou at No. 5 singles.
Michael Walmer earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Gabe Shembarger
Wheaton improves to 6-2 on the season. The Thunder return to action on Thursday at 10 AM (EST) against Cornerstone.
