Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team hosted Carroll University on Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale. The Thunder shut the Pioneers out 9-0 to improve to 7-4 on the year, with a 5-2 record in CCIW play.
The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Cody Ching and
Joey Geisz earned an 8-5 win against the Carroll tandem of Lucas Nay and Brian Trefliek.
Anderson Park and Lucas Winters earned an 8-0 win against Carroll's No. 2 doubles team of Luke Barer and Ryan Strupp.
Jack Wenzel and
Jacob Panjwani earned a victory by forfeit.
Park was a 6-0, 6-3 victor at No. 1 singles against Nay. Wenzel picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles against Trefilek, and Geisz was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles versus Barter. Winters picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles against Strupp. Senior
Ethan Fowler earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles against Chris Jensen.
Michael Walmer earned a victory via a forfeit.
The No. 4 four seed Thunder will host No. 5 seed Millikin on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in a
CCIWÂ Men's Tennis Championship First Round match. The winner of Tuesday's Semifinal will face either No. 8 Carroll or No. 1 North Central on Friday in a Semifinal match on the campus of Elmhurst University.
