FULL MEN'S RESULTS
Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder track and field teams hosted the 2021 Wheaton Invitational on Saturday. The men's team competed in the second section of the meet, held in the mid-afternoon and early evening, while the women competed in the first section of the meet in the morning and early afternoon.
The Thunder men's team placed second out of seven participating teams. Washington University-St. Louis won the meet with 219 points, Wheaton scored 157 points to come in second place, North Central scored 130 points in third place, Carthage came in fourth with 91 points, Carroll scored 51 points and placed fifth, North Park placed sixth with 40 points, and Elmhurst finished with 20 points in seventh place.
Senior
Jonah Jones won the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 9:25.53, which currently ranks him sixth in Division III in the event.
Kevin Riley placed third in the same event, running 9:47.38. Thunder sophomore
Trevor Gabriele won the shot put with a toss of 14.76-meters.
The Thunder 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of
Eli Odell,
Peter Van Os,
Max Veth, and
Andrew Lauber, placed second in the meet with a time of 3:16.76. The time is an improvement of eight-tenths of a second on their previous season best, and currently places them fourth in Division III in the event. The 4x100-meter relay team of Van Os, Nico Bradley,
Chris Albert, and
Ben Jackson placed second with a time of 42.43-seconds.

Sophomore
Elijah Nitz placed second in two events: the shot put and the discus throw. Nitz tossed the shot a distance of 14.69-meters and threw the discus 42.13-meters. Daniel Wetlessen was second in the javelin, throwing 41.03-meters. In the pole vault, two Thunder athletes placed in the top three finishers. Junior
Ethan Harsted (PICTURED LEFT) cleared a height of 4.43-meters as the highest finishing collegiate competitor, while senior
Peter Bradley cleared 4.28-meters as the second-highest finishing collegiate competitor.
Senior
Max Veth finished second in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 48.96-seconds, and
Andrew Lauber ran the same event in 49.46-seconds, coming in fourth place. Sophomore
Eli Odell finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.83-seconds, good for 12th place in Divison III this season. Nico Bradley ran 11.17-seconds in the 100-meter dash, finishing in fifth place.
Junior
Ben Jackson placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.00-seconds.
Isaiah Clausen placed fourth in the same event, finishing in 15.68-seconds. Jackson also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.42-seconds. Clausen also finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.98-meters. Sophomore
James Cummings earned a fifth-place finish in the triple jump, bounding his way to a jump of 11.85-meters.
The Thunder track and field teams will return to action on Friday, April 23 at the Elmhurst Invitational.
