Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder men's tennis team capped a busy week on Saturday with its fourth match in the past five days as Illinois Wesleyan (6-6, 0-4 CCIW) visited Wheaton. The Thunder topped the Titans, 9-0. Wheaton improves to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in CCIW play.
Wheaton earned three wins in doubles play. At No. 1 doubles it was an 8-6 win for
Cody Ching and
Joey Geisz against the Titans' team of Carter Burk and Demetrios Triantafel.
Anderson Park and
Alex Winters teamed for an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles against the IWU team of Evan Turnbull and Justin Piotrowski.
Jack Wenzel and
Jacob Panjwani defeated Ryan McCoy and Dylan Mikaili of IWU, 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Park earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against Triantafel. Ching was a 6-1, 6-1 victor against Burk in their match at No. 2 singles. Wenzel defeated McCoy 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Geisz was a 6-3, 7-5 victor at No. 4 singles against Piotrowski. Winters defeated Turnbull 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Panjwani defeated Mikaili 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Wheaton travels to Augustana on Wednesday, April 21 for its next match. The contest in Rock Island will start at 4:00 p.m.
