Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder men's tennis team hosted Millikin on Friday afternoon for a CCIW match. Wheaton shut out the Big Blue, 9-0. The Thunder close out a busy week of four matches on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. when Wheaton hosts Illinois Wesleyan for a conference clash.
The Thunder kicked off the match with three doubles wins. Wheaton's No. 1 doubles team of
Cody Ching and
Joey Geisz defeated Millikin's Jacob Palley and Nick Laramee, 8-7.
Alex Winters and
Anderson Park were 8-7 victors at No. 2 doubles against the Big Blue tandem of Clayton Maack and Holden Owens.
Jack Wenzel and
Jacob Panjwani earned an 8-2 victory at No. 3 singles against Cory Erickson and Justin Caldwell.
Park earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against Palley. Ching was a 6-4, 6-1 victor at No. 2 singles against Maack and Wenzel picked up a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Owens at No. 3 singles. Geisz was a 6-1, 6-4 victor at No. 4 singles and Winters earned a 6-2, 6-0 win against Erickson at No. 5 singles. Panjwani defeated Caldwell 6-0, 6-3 in their match at No. 6 singles.Â
Wheaton is now 5-3 on the season, with a 3-1 record in CCIW play. Millikin is 4-9 on the year, with a 1-4 record in conference play.
