Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder men's tennis team hosted Carthage on Thursday afternoon. The Firebirds topped the Thunder, 5-4. Carthage improves to 7-5 on the season and 4-1 in CCIW play. Wheaton is now 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference action.
Wheaton's victory in doubles action came at No. 2 doubles.Â
Alex Winters and
Anderson Park teamed for an 8-7 (3) win against the Carthage tandem of Kevin Dunn and Cooper Ferruzzi.
Park earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against Carthage's Tripp Schulte.
Jack Wenzel defeated Matt Krzewinskiin their match at No. 3 singles.
Alex Winters gave Wheaton its first singles win with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles against Hayden Friese.
Today's match was the second of four scheduled for the Thunder this week. Wheaton hosts Millikin tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. The busy week closes for the Thunder on Saturday when Illinois Wesleyan visits Wheaton for a match at 10:00 a.m.
