Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team improved to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in CCIW play on Wednesday afternoon with a victory against North Park (0-6, 0-6 CCIW). The Thunder hosted the Vikings and earned a 9-0 win on its home courts.
Wheaton's first victory on the court was an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles as
Bethany Hoogerheide and
Lindsey Anderson teamed up to defeat the NPU tandem of Hannah Dickinson and Emma Trais. The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Emme Lindquist and
Abygale Ahn defeated North Park's Hannah Rosenbaum and Lisa Viuhkonen, 8-1. Wheaton's No. 3 doubles team of
Sarah Backer and
Caroline Park won their match by forfeit.
Lindquist was a 6-0, 6-1 victor at No. 1 singles against Viuhkonen 6-0, 6-1. Ahn picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles against Rosenbaum. Dibble earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles and
Mary Streller was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Emma Trais. Park was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 5 singles against Acacia Doughty. Backer won at No. 6 singles via a forfeit.Â
