Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team (1-0) opened its season on Friday night with a match at Centre Court Athletic Club against Lake Forest College (0-2). The Thunder topped the Foresters 8-1 in the win.
Wheaton started the match with a 3-0 edge with victories in the three doubles matches. The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Anderson Park and
Joey Geisz earned an 8-3 victory against the Lake Forest tandem of Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and Chase Garber.
Cody Ching and
Jack Wenzel picked up an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Jacob Tilton and Brant Christensen. Wheaton's No. 3 doubles pairing of
Jacob Panjwani and
Alex Winters topped Oliver Gallego and Eduardo Manoitt.
Ching defeated Garber 6-3, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 2 singles. Wenzel picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win against Tilton at No. 3 singles. Geisz topped Lake Forest's Zach Cho 6-0, 6-3 at No.4 singles. Panjwani defeated Gallego 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. At No. 6 singles, Wheaton's
Alex Winters defeated Christensen 6-0, 6-4.Â
Wheaton is off until March 18 when the Thunder hosts Lewis at Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois at noon.
