Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton women's tennis team defeated conference foe Augustana 8-1 on Saturday at home. Wheaton is now 7-2 on the season with a 5-2 conference record, while the Vikings fall to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in CCIW play.
The first win of the day for the Thunder was an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles for the hosts' tandem of
Sarah Backer and
Lily Anne Van Ye against Michaela Magee and Mia Reese of IWU.
Abygale Ahn and
Audrey Vick earned an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles against the Titans' team of Lily Schoeck and Caitlyn Hanulikova.
Sarah Backer and
Lily Anne Van Ye defeated the IWU duo of Michaela Magee and Mia Reese 8-1.
Bethany Hoogerheide and
Lydia Adams teamed for an 8-7 victory at No. 2 doubles against Lauren Oda and Grace Rider.
Alexandra Wachs was a 6-2, 6-0 victor at No. 5 singles against Reese. Vick defeated Magee 6-1, 6-1 in their match at No. 2 singles. Ahn was a 6-1, 6-3 victor at No. 1 singles and
Lydia Adams defeated Nicole Pacheco 6-4, 6-2 in a matchup at No. 6 singles. Backer defeated Oda 6-3, 7-6 (10-5).
Wheaton hosts Carroll next Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the fall regular season finale for the Thunder.
