Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team hosted Carroll University on Saturday. The Thunder defeated the Pioneers 9-0 in the final regular season match of the fall. Wheaton (8-2, 6-2 CCIW) will compete in the 2021 CCIW Women's Tennis Championships beginning next Thursday at Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois.
Abygale Ahn and
Audrey Vick teamed for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles against the Pioneers' tandem of Grace Krueger and Ashley LaBelle. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of
Bethany Hoogerheide and
Lydia Adams earned an 8- victory against Madison Ostrander and Sophia Dekker.
Lily Anne Van Ye and
Sarah Backer picked up an 8-3 win against Rachel Papp and Maya Gaedtke at No. 3 doubles.
Ahn was a 6-0, 6-2 winner against Krueger in their match at No. 1 singles. Vick defeated LaBelle in their match at No. 2 singles. Vick won the first set 7-5 and LaBelle withdrew during the second set. Hoogerheide earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Dekker at No. 3 singles. Backer defeated Gaedtke 6-1, 6-1 in their match at No. 4 singles.
Alexandra Wachs was a 6-3, 6-4 victor at No. 5 singles against Ostrander. Adams picked up a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles in her match against Papp.
