Bloomington, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team picked up its third-consecutive victory on Friday afternoon with an 8-1 Thunder win at Illinois Wesleyan (1-6, 0-4 CCIW). Wheaton is now 6-1 overall and 4-1 in CCIW play.
Wheaton won two of the three matches in doubles competition this afternoon against the Titans.
Abygale Ahn (PICTURED ABOVE) and
Audrey Vick teamed for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles against the IWU tandem of Anna Cooper and Ashley Mohr.
Sarah Backer and
Lily Anne Van Ye picked up an 8-2 victory against Marissa Hagler and Maria Poehls in the matchup at No. 3 doubles.
Wheaton won each of the six singles matchups against the Titans. Ahn was a 6-2, 7-6 victor at No. 1 singles against Illinois Wesleyan's Amber Shuang. Vick defeated Cooper 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and at No. 3 singles Wheaton senior
Bethany Hoogerheide defeated Mohr 6-0, 6-1. Backer was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at No. 4 singles against Katelyn Heller. Andrea Wachs was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles against Hagler, and
Lydia Adams defeated Poehls 6-0, 6-1 in their match at No. 6 singles.
The Thunder will travel to Decatur, Illinois on Saturday for a CCIW match at Millikin University. The contest Saturday between Wheaton and Big Blue is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.Â
