Kent Raymond '09 named to the D3hoops.com All-Decade team

Wheaton, Ill. - Kent Raymond '09 has been recognized by D3hoops.com as one of the standout players falling between their two All-Decade teams. D3hoops published its first All-Decade Team to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the website (1997-2007), but realigned with the 2010s (2010-20) for its second decade honorees, which was released on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the website honored the best of the graduating classes of 2008 and 2009, including Raymond.

A three-time All-American, Raymond was recognized as the 2008-09 Division III "Player of the Year" by DIIINews following his senior season. He was a three-time selection as the Midwest Region Player of the Year by both D3Hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball coaches and is one of only three players to be recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) "Most Outstanding Player" three times. A two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, Raymond received the 2010 NCAA Today's Top VIII Award at the conclusion of his storied career.

Raymond helped lead Wheaton to NCAA Division III Tournament appearances in four seasons with the Thunder. He was a freshman on Wheaton's 2004-05 squad that earned an At-Large bid to the NCAA Tournament. In 2007-08 he helped guide Wheaton to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. As a senior in 2008-09, Raymond and the Thunder won the CCIW regular season championship, the CCIW Tournament title, earned a ranking of No. 1 in the D3hoops.com Top-25 poll, and advanced to the Sweet 16 Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Raymond scored 2,308 career points in his four-year career at Wheaton, the second-highest point total in school history, at the time of his graduation (currently ranks third). His career scoring total was the fourth-highest mark in CCIW history at the time of his graduation and today is ranked sixth. He graduated as the school's all-time three-point field goal leader (second today) and is Wheaton's all-time free throw leader. Raymond made 727 field goals in his Thunder career, a mark that ranked fourth at the time of his departure (currently ranked fifth). His 344 career assists ranked fifth in program history at the time of his graduation (ranks seventh currently).
