Crawfordsville, Indiana - The Wheaton men's tennis team earned a convincing 9-0 victory at Wabash College on Saturday morning. The win improves the Thunder to 4-3 on the season.
The Thunder dominated in doubles play. The No. 1 doubles team of
Anderson Park and
Andrew Bristol earned an 8-0 victory against the Wabash team of Paul Hargitt and Devin Vanyo. Wheaton picked up an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles as the tandem of
Nathan Fruh and
Jack Wenzel defeated Reed Mathis and Emerson Couter 8-0. The Thunder No. 3 doubles team of
Alex Winters and
Ethan Fowler won by forfeit.
The Thunder also swept through singles action on Saturday. Park was a 6-0, 6-2 victor at No. 1 singles against Mathis. Fruh defeated Hargitt 6-0, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 2 singles.
Jack Wenzel was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Vanyo at No. 3 singles and Winters topped Courter 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Fowler picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles against Gerald Randle of Wabash. Bristol won by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Wheaton travels to Florida next week for four matches during the team's Spring Break trip. The trip opens on March 9 against SUNY Oneonta.
