Ninth-ranked Thunder women's soccer shuts out Capital University, 3-0

Ada, Ohio - The Wheaton women's soccer team (3-0) opened its two-day trip to the campus of Ohio Northern University with a matchup against Capital University. The ninth-ranked Thunder topped Capital, 3-0. Wheaton takes on the host Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (EDT) in the final matchup of the two-match visit to Ohio.

Thunder junior Sara Bakke put Wheaton on the scoreboard early with her second goal of the season in the 13th minute of the matchup. Bakke's goal was assisted by Izzy McNally. Approximately two minutes later, senior Bailey Wolf tallied her first goal of the season on an assist by Aeva Graber to extend the Thunder lead to 3-1 in the 15th minute. Wheaton led Capital 2-0 at halftime of the matchup as the Thunder out-shot their opponents 6-1, including a 3-1 edge in shots on goal.

Wheaton's third and final goal of the match came off the foot of sophomore Nicole Wright. Wright tallied a goal in the 78th minute off a Sara Bakke assist to increase the Thunder advantage to 3-0. Wheaton out-shot Capital 10-4 in the final 45 minutes, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.

Thunder goalkeeper Lauren Ketchum started the match in the net. Ketchum made two saves in 82 minutes of work in goal. Madison Lee played the final 8 minutes of the match. Capital's Kelly Bachmann started the match in goal, playing 79 minutes as she made seven saves and allowed three goals. Lauren White made one save in her 11 minutes of action in the net for Capital.

Wheaton out-shot Capital 16-5, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. The Thunder attempted 11 corner kicks in the match, while Capital was awarded one.
