Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon with a victory in its home opener. Wheaton topped the visiting Eagles of Judson 8-1 in the non-conference match.
Wheaton won all three doubles matches this afternoon. The Thunder No. 1 doubles team of
Claire Browning and
Abygale Ahn earned an 8-2 victory against the Judson tandem of Sofia Garza and Lizeth Diaz. Wheaton earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles as
Claire Dibble (PICTURED LEFT) and
Nicole Freeman topped Georgia Redmond and Lauren Janecek.
Emme Lindquist and
Bethany Hoogerheide earned an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles against the Judson team of Katelynn Coleman and Hannah Womack.
Lindquist was a 7-5, 6-4 victor at No. 2 singles against Diaz. Dibble picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Redmond at No. 3 singles and Freeman was a 6-2, 6-2 winner winner against Janecek at No. 4 singles. Ahn swept Judson's Katelynn Coleman 6-0, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 5 singles and Hoogerheide earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles against Hannah Womack.
Wheaton opens conference play this weekend with a pair of matches at home. The Carthage Lady Reds visit the Wheaton Tennis Courts on Friday for a matchup at 5:00 p.m. Wheaton entertains Carroll on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
