Hanover Park, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team defeated Elmhurst College (0-5, 0-2 CCIW) on Saturday afternoon, 9-0. The Thunder improve to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in CCIW play.
Wheaton's first victory came at No. 3 doubles as a the team of
Bethany Hoogerheide and
Emme Lindquist (PICTURED ABOVE) earned an 8-0 victory against Elmhurst's June Bering and Bailey Ekstrand. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of
Claire Dibble and
Nicole Freeman defeated the Bluejays' Kristina Radakovic and Nina Pasquini 8-2. The Thunder secured the sweep in doubles play with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles for the tandem of
Claire Browning and
Abygale Ahn against Ysabel Gonzaga and Pamela Kobeszko.
The opening Thunder win in singles play was a 6-0, 6-0 victory for Dibble against Ekstrand at No. 3 singles. Hoogerheide followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles against Lindsey McAuliffe. Ahn defeated Silvia Barak 6-1, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 5 singles. Freeman was a 6-0, 6-1 winner against Maglaque at No. 4 singles and Lindquist defeated Pasquini 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Claire Browning was a 6-2, 6-1 victor against Gonzaga at No. 1 singles to secure Wheaton's 9-0 win and the sweep of the Bluejays.
The Thunder return to action nect Friday at Millikin in a 3:00 p.m. matchup against the Big Blue.
