Elmhurst, Ill. – The eighth-ranked Thunder women's soccer team opened CCIW play on Saturday night with a 4-0 victory at Elmhurst College. Wheaton improves to 8-1-1 on the year, with a 1-0-0 record in CCIW play. The Bluejays are now 5-3-1 on the season, with a 0-1-0 mark in conference action.
Wheaton struck early with three goals in the first 25 minutes of the match.
Tori Seeland put the Thunder on the scoreboard first when her shot went into the upper center portion of the net to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute.
Sophia Lindquist extended Wheaton's lead to 2-0 when she scored off an
Aeva Graber assist in the 24
th minute. Wheaton responded 52-seconds later when Graber scored on a
Bailey Wolf assist to increase the guests' lead to 3-0. The Thunder maintained the 3-0 lead at the halftime intermission. The Thunder out-shot the Bluejays 15-4 in the first half, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal.
Wheaton's final goal came in the second half, at the 72 minute mark of the match.
Molly Thorne netted her second goal of the year to account for the 4-0 final score. Wheaton held a 14-5 advantage in shots in the second half, including 7-2 edge in shots on goal.

Lauren Ketchum made two saves in 45 minutes of action.
Madison Lee played the entire second half, making two saves. Elmhurst goalkeeper Sophia Tuliglowski allowed four goals and made 11 saves.
Wheaton out-shot the Bluejays 29-9, with a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal for the guests. Wheaton was awarded five corner kicks in the match and Elmhurst attempted three.
The Thunder women's soccer team travels to Hope College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (EDT) for a matchup against the Flying Dutch.
