Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder men's soccer team wrapped up an unbeaten four-game homestand on Friday night with a 3-2 victory over WashU. With the victory, Wheaton moves to 5-2-1 overall on the season while dropping the Bears to 3-2-1 overall. Wheaton will travel to Lake Forest on Tuesday for their final nonconference tune-up before traveling to Elmhurst College for their CCIW opener on Saturday night.
With play wide open for most of the night, WashU held a slim 17-16 edge in shots with the Bears putting all but three of their shots on goal.
Hasten Biddlecome continued his strong play in goal for the Thunder, turning away 12 WashU shots. Matt Martin made five saves for the Bears while allowing three goals.

(VIDEO) to put Wheaton ahead 1-0. Despite the early momentum, play swung to both ends of the field with both teams getting off eight shot attempts in the opening half. WashU had its best opportunity of the half following a foul in the box with two minutes remaining in the half, but the penalty attempt sailed over the crossbar allowing Wheaton to take a 1-0 lead to halftime.

(VIDEO) to push Wheaton's lead to 2-0 just under three minutes into the half. WashU answered five minutes later on Nolan Wolf's second goal of the season in the 52nd minute. WashU nearly pulled even in the 66th minute of play but a stellar sequence by BiddlecomeÂ
(VIDEO) denied the Bears twice in succession, preserving the Thunder lead. Galvao again put Wheaton ahead by two goals in the 72nd minute when his strike from outside theÂ
(VIDEO) into the lower right corner of the net, putting Wheaton ahead 3-1. Galvao's goal stood large in the 83rd minute when Will Sproule cashed in a loose rebound following another outstanding Biddlecome save to pull the Bears within a goal again.
Tonight's match marked the fourth time this season that Biddlecome, the reigning CCIW Defensive Player of the Week, has recorded seven or more saves in a match. Tonight's 12-save performance follows his outstanding 14-save showing in Wheaton's 1-1 draw against sixth-ranked UChicago on Tuesday night.
