Chicago, Ill. - The Wheaton women's team extended its undefeated streak to open the 2019-20 season with a conference victory at North Park on Saturday afternoon. The Thunder shut out the Vikings 9-0.
Wheaton swept through the opening doubles matches to have an early 3-0 lead in the contest.
Claire Browning and
Abygale Ahn earned an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles against the NPU tandem of Linn Viuhkonen and Patrycja Miazek. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team ofÂ
Claire Dibble and
Nicole Freeman defeated the North Park team of Lisa Viuhkonen and Kendra Belisle, 8-2.
Emme Lindquist and
Bethany Hoogerheide earned an 8-3 victory against Sara Stan and Hannah Rosenbaum at No. 3 doubles.
Browning was a 6-0, 6-2 victor at No. 1 singles against Linn Viuhkonen. Lindquist picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win against Lisa Viuhkonen at No. 2 singles. Dibble was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 3 singles against Patrycja Miazek and Freeman earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory in her matchup at No. 4 singles against Stan. Ahn defeated Belisle 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Hoogerheide swept her matchup at No. 6 singles against Carla Cuba 6-0, 6-0.
Wheaton is off until September 28 when the Thunder travels to Elmhurst College for a matchup against the Bleujays at 11 a.m.
