Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton Thunder women's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season Friday night with a 9-0 victory at home against Edgewood College (4-2). Wheaton returns to conference play on Saturday at noon when the Thunder travels to North Park.
Wheaton won each of the six singles matchup against the Eagles.
Claire Browning earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles against Edgewood's Sydney Verbauwhede.
Emme Lindquist was a 6-4, 6-1 victor at No. 2 singles against Alyssa Carew. Wheaton's
Claire Dibble defeated Kai Heineman 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and
Nicole Freeman earned a 6-2, 6-4 win against Ally Verbauwhede in their matchup at No. 4 singles.
Abygale Ahn was a 6-2, 6-3 victor at No. 5 singles against Alicia Picard and
Bethany Hoogerheide topped Lydia Dean 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
Browning and Ahn teamed for am 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles against Sydney Verbauwhede and Ally Verbauwhede. Dibble and Freeman were 8-1 victors at No. 2 doubles against Carew and Heineman. The Thunder No. 3 doubles team of Lindquist and Hoogerheide earned an 8-4 win against Picard and Dean.
