Decatur, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team defeated North Central College 5-2 on Friday in a semifinal match at the 2019 CCIW Men's Tennis Championship. Wheaton advances to the tournament's championship match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The No. 2 seeded Thunder face No. 1 Augustana in Saturday's championship match.
The Thunder won two of the three doubles matches on Friday against North Central. Wheaton's
Andrew Bristol and
Josh Cheng won an 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles against Victor Krueger and Andy Hinch.
Anderson Park and
Alexander Winters teamed up for an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles against the North Central tandem of Tyler Bussell and Tyler Haizel.
Park defeated Krueger 6-0, 6-0 in their matchup at No. 1 singles.
Jack Guenther gave Wheaton a 4-1 lead with his 6-1, 6-2 victory against Justin Howes at No. 5 singles.
Christopher Jones gave Wheaton its decisive fifth point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles against Lucas Pindak.
