Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder men's tennis team picked up a 7-2 victory at home on Friday afternoon as Wheaton defeated Roosevelt University, 7-2. The Lakers are now 8-8 on the season, while Wheaton improves to 4-8.
The Thunder opened the event with a 2-1 edge as Wheaton won two of the three doubles matches on Friday. Andrew Bristol and
Josh Cheng teamed up for an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles against Roosevelt's tandem of Nathan Benoit and David Wolk.
Jacob Panjwani and
Jack Guenther earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles against Jacob Fuqua and Francisco Sotelo.
Sophomore
Anderson Park earned a victory for the Thunder at No. 1 singles. Park was a 6-1, 6-4 victor against Roosevelt's David Wolk. Panjwani defeated Benoit 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Alexanders Winters earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Fuqua at No. 4 singles. Bristol was a 6-1, 6-4 winner against Roosevelt's Kendrick Chong at No. 5 singles.
Christopher Jones picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles against Sotelo.
The Thunder will open CCIW play on April 9 when Illinois Wesleyan visits the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. Â
