Rock Island, Ill. - The Wheaton men's tennis team traveled to Augustana on Wednesday afternoon for matchup of the only two squads that remained undefeated in CCIW play at the start of the match. The Vikings defeated the Thunder 5-4 as the Vikings improve to 20-5 overall and 6-0 in CCIW play. Wheaton is now 9-9 on the season, with a 5-1 record in CCIW play.
The Thunder led the team scored 2-1 at the end of doubles play.
Anderson Park and Alex Winters defeated the Vikings' tandem of Rodrigo Medeiros and Leonardo Panosso 8-5 in the matchup at No. 2 doubles. Wheaton's No. 3 doubles team of
Jacob Panjwani and
Jack Guenther defeated Jack Morkin and Caio DeRezende 8-3.
Park defeated DeRezende 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles on Wednesday. Wheaton's fourth win of the night was a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles for
Jack Guenther against Panosso.
Wheaton concludes its regular season schedule on Saturday with a CCIW matchup at home against Millikin.
