Naperville, Ill. - The Thunder men's tennis team remains undefeated in CCIW play following a 6-3 victory at North Central (17-5, 5-2 CCIW) on Tuesday afternoon. The win against the Cardinals was the sixth-consecutive victory for the Thunder. Wheaton improves to 9-8 overall and 5-0 in CCIW play as the squad travels to Augustana (19-5, 5-0 CCIW) on Wednesday for a key CCIW matchup with the Vikings.
The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of
Anderson Park and Alex Winters picked up Wheaton's first win of the afternoon on Tuesday as the duo earned an 8-3 victory against the North Central tandem of Tyler Bussell and Tyler Haizel. The No. 3 doubles team of
Jack Guenther (PICTURED ABOVE) and
Jacob Panjwani picked up Wheaton's second win of the day as they defeated Justin Howes and Lucas Pindak. Wheaton led the Cardinals 2-1 at the conclusion of the doubles matches.
Park extended Wheaton's lead to 3-1 as he was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 1 singles against North Central's Victor Krueger. Guenther extended Wheaton's lead to 4-1 with his 6-2, 6-2 victory against Pindak at No. 6 singles.
Christopher Jones' 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. No. 5 singles against Howes was Wheaton's decisive fifth win in the team match as Jones extended Wheaton's advantage to 5-1. Wheaton's sixth victory of the day was a 7-5, 6-3 win for
Josh Cheng against Bussell.
