Wheaton, Ill. – The ninth-ranked Wheaton Thunder women's soccer team picked up early goals on Wednesday night to earn a conference win against Carroll University (5-4-2, 0-2-1 CCIW) at Joe Bean Stadium. The Thunder topped the Pioneers 2-0. Wheaton improves to 11-1-1 overall and 3-0-0 in CCIW play with tonight's win.
Wheaton looked sharp early, recording two goals in the first 11 minutes of the match.

Jensen Ellis to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead just 4:42 into the match (

Sarah Tomich in the six-yard box and Tomich put the ball past Carroll goalkeeper Christina O'Block for Wheaton's second goal (
VIDEO). Tomich's goal at the 10:34 mark of the match increased the Thunder lead to 2-0. The Thunder out-shot the Pioneers 14-3 in the first half, including a 10-2 edge in shots on goal.
The Thunder out-shot Carroll 7-3 in the second half. Wheaton held a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal in the final period.

Lauren Ketchum made two saves in her 45 minutes of action.
Madison Lee replaced Ketchum in the second half as Lee made one save in 45 minutes of work. Carroll's Christine O'Block made 13 saves and allowed one goal.
Wheaton out-shot Carroll 21-6 in the match, including a 15-3 edge in shots on goal. Wheaton was awarded five corner kicks and Carroll had four in the match.
Wheaton returns to action on Saturday night at 5:00 p.m. in a matchup at Augustana College.
