Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team remains undefeated following an 8-1 win against North Central (8-2, 6-2 CCIW) on Tuesday night at the Wheaton Tennis Courts. The Thunder have an overall record of 10-0 this season and 7-0 in CCIW play.
Wheaton swept through doubles play with three victories. Wheaton's first win was an 8-0 victory for the team of
Claire Dibble and
Nicole Freeman at No. 2 doubles against the Cardinals' team of Linsy Jante and Katie McGraw.
Claire Browning and
Abygale Ahn defeated Hannah Hougland and Alaina Kanthaphixay 8-5 in the matchup at No. 1 doubles. Wheaton's third victory in doubles play came at No. 3 doubles as the team of
Emme Lindquist and
Bethany Hoogerheide defeated Ellie Gallagher and Yaitova Spiegel, 8-7.
Hoogerheide earned Wheaton's first victory in singles play. She was a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Gallagher in their match at No. 6 singles. Freeman followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win against Jante at No. 4 singles. Ahn defeated Morgan House 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Dibble was a 6-0 ,6-1 winner against McGraw at No. 3 singles. Lindquist earned Wheaton's final victory of the night with a 6-4, 6-5 win at No. 2 singles against Kanthaphixay.
Wheaton concludes the CCIW regular season portion of its schedule at noon on Saturday when Augustana (7-0, 6-0 CCIW) visits the Thunder at noon.
