Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's tennis team lost to Augustana, 5-4 on Saturday night in the final regular season match of the 2019 CCIW schedule for both teams. The matchup pitted the unbeaten Thunder against the undefeated Vikings.
Wheaton is now 10-1 and 7-1 in CCIW play, while Augustana improves to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play. Both teams will participate in the 2019 CCIW Women's Tennis Championship beginning next Thursday in Hanover Park, Illinois
Two of Wheaton's victories on Saturday came in doubles play. The Thunder No. 2 doubles team of
Nicole Freeman and
Claire Dibble defeated Augustana's Lily Schoeck and Lauren Oda, 8-7. Wheaton also picked up a win at No. 3 doubles as
Emme Lindquist and
Bethany Hoogerheide picked up an 8-6 victory against Kalli Majewski and Leraaen Abbott.
Wheaton's
Abygale Ahn defeated Oda 6-4, 7-6 at No. 5 singles. Hoogerheide defeated Majewski 6-2, 6-2 in their matchup at No. 6 singles.
