Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton volleyball team hosted a tri-match on Saturday in King Arena, entertaining Kalamazoo College and IIT. The Thunder won the day's opening match, 3-0 against IIT and Wheaton closed out the day with a 3-1 victory against Kalamazoo College. Wheaton improves to 15-11 on the season with today's victories.
In the opening match of the day, Wheaton defeated IIT 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-23).
Ellie Brown led the Thunder with 10 kills and she added seven total blocks.
Emma Sweatman had eight kills and
Deborah Smith, while
Deborah Smith and
Colleen Smith each had seven kills.
Marlee Anderson led the Thunder with 21 assists and
Alecia Funk had 14. Freshman
Allie High led all players with 26 digs and Sweatman added 10. Anderson and Sweatman each contributed two service aces, while
Deborah Smith added six total blocks.
The Thunder closed out the tri-match with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-11, 14-25, 26-24) victory against Kalamazoo. Sweatman led the Thunder with 12 kills on a .423 attack percentage. Brown posted a .529 attack percentage on 10 kills; and
Kaylee Byerly had 10 kills with a .444 attack percentage.
Colleen Smith had nine kills and five service aces in the match. Anderson led the Thunder with 28 assists and Funk had 21. High had 20 digs for the hosts. Byerly had five total blocks and Brown takked four.
Wheaton hosts Carroll on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. The conference match in King Arena is the home regular season finale for the Thunder and will be "Senior Night" as the program honors:
