Early goals lead women's soccer to 3-0 victory at Salisbury

- The Thunder women's soccer team capped its weekend with its second consecutive shutout on Saturday. A pair of goals in the first five minutes helped Wheaton cruise to a 3-0 victory against the host Seagulls of Salisbury University. Wheaton will continue its schedule with their home opener on Friday, September 7, at 7 pm against Thomas More.

Madison Peebles scored just 92 seconds into the match off an Aeva Graber cross to put Wheaton ahead 1-0. Just over three minutes later, Graber set-up Chelsea Gnan for her first goal of the season for a 2-0 Wheaton lead at the 4:43 mark.

Wheaton would go on to control the play in the remainder of the first half, outshooting the Seagulls 7-3 in the half. Wheaton would own a 10-6 final advantage in shots with a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

Anne Jekel added to Wheaton's lead in the 76th minute, scoring her first goal of the season off assists from Peebles and Bailey Wolf to put Wheaton ahead 3-0. Lauren Ketchum put the finishing shutout on her second shutout of the season with a save in the 79th minute, her second of the night.
