Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton Thunder women's basketball team utilized a strong overall game tonight to defeat No. 14 Illinois Wesleyan 71-61 inside Wheaton's King Arena. The Thunder victory snapped the Titans' 16-game win streak and hands Illinois Wesleyan (18-3, 11-1 CCIW) its first conference loss of the season. Wheaton improved its win streak to 12 games as the Thunder now own an 18-4 overall record and an 11-2 mark in CCIW play.

Sophomore
Hannah Frazier led the Thunder with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Frazier grabbed four rebounds, with four assists and two steals. Freshman
Hannah Williams (PICTURED LEFT) scored a career-high 14 points off the Thunder bench as she shot 6-of-9 from the floor.
Maggie Dansdill scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field with four rebounds and four assists.
Devin Kyler (PICTURED RIGHT) was 4-of-6 from the field with 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her fifth "double-double" of the season. Kyler added five assists in the outing.
Jordan Myroth grabbed seven rebounds and
Kelly Lawson added five boards.
Jill Berg blocked six shots and she grabbed five rebounds.
The Titans led 5-4 just four minutes into the game, however, Wheaton responded with nine unanswered points capped by a Kyler three-pointer to give the hosts a 13-5 lead with 4:25 remaining in the first quarter. Illinois Wesleyan's 5-4 lead was the Titans' only advantage of the night. The Thunder led 17-13 at the conclusion of the first quarter.
The Thunder out-scored IWU 17-6 in the opening five minutes of the second quarter to extend the hosts' lead to 34-19. The Thunder led 45-35 at the halftime intermission. Wheaton was 10-of-14 from the field in the second quarter, shooting 71.4% from the field.
The Thunder extended its lead to a 13-point advantage through three quarters with a 57-44 Wheaton lead at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Titans could get no closer than an eight-point deficit at 65-57 with 2:32 remaining in regulation.
The Thunder posted a 50.9% (27-of-53) field goal percentage, including 36.8% (7-of-19) from three-point range. Illinois Wesleyan shot 25.4% (16-of-63) from the field, including 41.2% (7-of-17) behind three-point arc. The Titans shot 78.6% (22-of-28) at the free throw line and the Thunder had a 58.8% (10-of-17) effort at the charity stripe. Wheaton out-rebounded the guests 42-35 and the Titans had a 16-10 edge on the offensive glass.
Rebekah Ehresman led the Titans with 24 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Sydney Shanks registered 16 points, with six rebounds and three steals.
The Thunder travel to North Park on Saturday evening for a 5:00 p.m. tipoff with the Vikings.
