Women's basketball extends win streak to 13 games with a 68-40 victory at North Park

Chicago, Ill. – The Thunder women's basketball team improved its win streak to 13 games on Saturday night with a 68-40 win at North Park (9-13, 4-9 CCIW). Today's victory improves Wheaton to 19-5 on the season and 12-2 in CCIW play. The Thunder winning streak is Wheaton's longest since the program put together a 14-game win streak in 2004-05.

31823Wheaton's offensive output tonight was balanced with five players scoring eight or more points in the game. Sophomore Hannah Frazier led the Thunder with a game-high 13 points. Frazier added a team-high eight rebounds with three assists.

Kelly Lawson scored 11 points with three assists. Lawson made a pair of three-pointers for Wheaton. Maggie Dansdill contributed 10 points and grabbed six rebounds for the guests.

31827Kristi Demski (PICTURED RIGHT) was 3-of-4 from three-point range to score nine points for Wheaton. Jennifer Berg added eight points for the guests. Devin Kyler scored five points with five rebounds.

The Thunder scored the game's first 11 points and never trailed in tonight's matchup and the guests led the Vikings 16-8 at the conclusion of the first quarter. The Thunder closed out the second quarter with a 10-5 scoring advantage to give Wheaton a 37-21 lead at the halftime intermission.

Wheaton's offense continued to out-pace the Vikings in the third quarter. Wheaton led 43-25 with 6:25 remaining in the third quarter when the Thunder utilized an 8-2 run to give the guests a 51-27 lead with 3:20 left in the quarter.

The Thunder shot 40.7% (22-of-54) from the field, including 34.8% (8-for-23) from three-point range. North Park tallied a 23.6% (13-of-55) field goal percentage, including 20% (2-of-10) behind the three-point arc. Wheaton recorded a 72.7% (16-of-22) effort at the free throw line and North Park shot 63.2% (12-of-19) at the charity. The Thunder held a 41-37 rebounding advantage and the Vikings had a 12-9 edge on the offensive glass.
 
The Thunder travel to Carroll University on February 14 for a league matchup with the Pioneers.
