Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer closes the regular season with a 7-0 victory at North Park

Chicago, Ill. – The Wheaton women's soccer team, ranked 12th in Division III, closed out the regular season on Saturday night with a 7-0 victory at North Park. Wheaton is now 15-3 overall and 8-0 in CCIW play.

Nicole Wright tallied Wheaton's first goal (12th minute) on an Aeva Graber (PICTURED ABOVE) assist and sophomore Isabelle Oliver scored in the 15th minute off of an Izzy McNally assist. Oliver scored again in the 23rd minute on a breakaway from a Madison Peebles assist. Sara Bakke scored in the 37th minute off an assist by Jensen Ellis to give Wheaton a 4-0 lead that stood at halftime. Wheaton out-shot the Vikings 21-3 in the first half, including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal.

Graber got Wheaton's second half scoring started early with a goal in the 52nd minute off of a Ruth Ellen Bailey assist. Bakke's cross in the 71st minute found Sarah Gencarella who scored to extend Wheaton's lead to 6-0. Freshman Sarah Kukuk scored her first collegiate goal in the 87th minute off an assist by Gencarella. Wheaton owned a 13-3 advantage for shots in the second half, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.

Lauren Ketchum played all 90 minutes in net for the Thunder, making two saves. North Park's Theresa Weiss started the night in net for the Vikings, with six saves and four goals allowed in 45 minutes of action. Abigail Vandenberg played 45 minutes in the second half, making three saves with three goals allowed.

Wheaton out-shot the Thunder 34-6 in the match, including a 16-2 edge in shots on goal. Wheaton was awarded six corner kicks in the match and North Park had no corner kick attempts.

Wheaton, the top seed, will host Elmhurst next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in a semifinal match of the 2018 CCIW Women's Soccer Tournament.
