Wheaton, Ill. –
The ninth-ranked Wheaton women's soccer team (13-3) hosted top-ranked WashU (14-0) on Saturday in a key Division III battle. The Bears remained undefeated with a 2-1 victory to snap Wheaton's eight-match winning streak.

Today's match was played under cold and blustery conditions. Snow moved into the area midway through the first half and with a 1:05 remaining in the first half the lightning detection system signaled weather issues in the area. The game was delayed for approximately 20 minutes.

The Bears controlled the offense early in the match. The guests scored first with a goal by Jess Shapiro just 11:21 into the match. Ariana miles flicked the ball to Taylor Cohen who passed back to Shapiro who lofted a high arcing shot that landed in the back of the net over the out-stretched arms of Wheaton goalkeeper Lauren Ketchum.

Wheaton responded with a game-tying goal by Isabelle Oliver at the 26:07 mark of the match. Carney Blake lobbed in a long cross from the center of the field to Oliver near the upper right corner of the six-yard box. Oliver blasted the shot into the lower right corner of the net past one WashU defender and the Bears' goalkeeper (VIDEO).

The weather delay occurred with 1:05 left in the first half. At the conclusion of the delay the final 1:05 of the half was played. Erin Flynn of WashU scored with just 47-seconds remaining in the first half to give the Bears a 2-1 lead.

WashU had 15 shot attempts in the first half, including five on goal. Wheaton had two shots in the half, both on goal.

The second half of the match began approximately two minutes after the end of the first half. Neither team scored in the second half. WashU head seven shot attempts in the half, including three on goal. Wheaton attempted three shots, including on shot on goal.

Lauren Ketchum started in goal for the Thunder as she made six saves and allowed two goals in 68 minutes. Madison Lee played the final 22 minutes in net for the Thunder. WashU goalkeeper Emma Greenfield made two saves and allowed Oliver's first half goal.

The Bears out-shot Wheaton 15-5, including a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Bears attempted six corner kicks in the match and Wheaton had one.
