Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder swim teams welcomed CCIW-foe Carthage College to Lederhouse Natatorium on Saturday afternoon for a dual meet. Despite tightly contested scores on both sides, the Thunder were swept by Carthage, losing the men's contest 166-127 and falling 167-104 in the women's meet. Wheaton will next be in action on February 2, when the Thunder travel to Bourbonnais, Illinois for a dual meet at Olivet Nazarene University.
Meredith Clarkson highlighted the women's meet by winning the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.39) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:58.73). Brooke Barnes was the fastest to the wall in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 24.66 seconds. Carrie Steggerda won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.80 and Bethany Doyle won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:18.02.
The Thunder men were led by strong relay performances by winning the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Will Rinne, 
Christian Cameron, and 
Jack O'Connor teamed up to post a winning time of 1:34.60 in the 200 medley relay and Cameron, Szymczak, 
Daniel Deysher, and O'Connor won the 200 free relay in 1:25.93.
Szymczak's busy day also included sweeping the backstrokes, winning the 100 back in 51.98 seconds and the 200 back in 1:54.53. 
Chris Dingfield also posted a pair of individual victories, sweeping the 100-yard (51.82) and 200-yard butterfly (1:54.77). O'Connor won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.40 seconds and 
Daniel Deysher won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.11 to round out Wheaton's event champions.
