Women's basketball defeats Trinity Christian 94-51 to pick up seventh-straight win

Wheaton, Ill. – The Thunder women's basketball team stepped out of conference play on Friday night to host Trinity Christian College inside King Arena. The Thunder topped the Trolls 94-51 in the first meeting of the two Chicagoland-area foes. Wheaton improves to 13-4 with the victory and Trinity Christian is now 9-12 on the season.

31475Senior Kelly Lawson led the Thunder with a game-high 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field tonight, including 4-for-7 from three-point range. Lawson grabbed six rebounds, and she tied for the game-high with five assists.

Kristi Demski (PICTURED LEFT) scored a career-high 18 points off the Thunder bench, making six three-pointers. Demski added three assists and two blocked shots.

Maggie Dansdill tallied 15 points, with six rebounds and four assists. Hannah Frazier scored 12 points with nine rebounds, including eight offensive boards.

31476Jill Berg (PICTURED RIGHT) grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds, including five offensive boards, and she blocked two shots. Her sister, Jill Berg, grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked shots and snagged three steals.

Wheaton shot 47.2% (34-for-72) from the field, including 37.5% (12-of-32) from three-point range. Trinity Christian posted a 28.4% (19-of-67) field goal percentage, including a 33.3% (6-of-18) effort behind the three-point arc. The Thunder had a 70% (14-of-20) effort at the free throw line and the Trolls shot 63.6% (7-of-11) at the charity stripe. Wheaton out-rebounded the Trolls 62-30, including a 24-11 edge on the offensive glass.

Wheaton returns to conference play on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. with a league matchup at Augustana.
