Wheaton, Ill.
- The Wheaton men's soccer team put together an impressive effort on Saturday afternoon to earn a 2-0 victory over Luther College. The win was Wheaton's second straight in and the second straight shutout for the Thunder. Wheaton improves to 3-3 on the young season ahead of next Wednesday's 7 pm kickoff against University of Chicago at Joe Bean Stadium.

Wheaton was victorious despite being outshot 9-3 and allowing the Norse to have eight corner kick opportunities. Hasten Biddlecome fought through a physical afternoon in the box to earn the victory with two saves. Luther's Carson Davenport and Will Blain each allowed a goal in 45 minutes of work and did not record a save.

Biddlecome put himself in danger early in the match with a misplayed ball but bailed himself out with his first save of the game in the third minute. The middle portion of the first half did not see much in the form of scoring opportunites until Sean Dunlop played a long ball through the heart of the Norse defense to spring Josh Greene into space. With just the keeper to beat, Greene one timed a ball over the shoulder of the oncoming Davenport to give Wheaton a 1-0 lead at the 40:14 mark.

Luther had its best scoring opportunity of the match early in the half on a free kick just outside the 18-yard box. Brunno Colon's strong kick bent just outside the near post and wide, keeping the Norse off the scoreboard. Wheaton was able to pad its lead several minutes later when Andrew Wade converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute to make it 2-0.

Wheaton locked in its defense for the remaining half hour of play, making it difficult for Luther to put together any scoring chances and draining the remaining game clock.
