Wheaton, Ill. – Wartburg College (4-1-0) spoiled the Thunder women's soccer team's return home as the Knights defeated the Thunder 4-2 on Friday afternoon at Joe Bean Stadium. Wheaton (1-3-1) hosts Luther College on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the second game of a three-game homestand.
Wartburg led 1-0 at halftime thanks to a goal by Megan Cowherd in the 37
th minute. Nicole Adair assisted cowherd's goal.
Adair increased the Knights' lead to 2-0 when the headed the ball into the net off an Alyssa Christopher assist in the 52
nd minute. A few minutes later Wartburg committed a foul in the penalty box as Wheaton was awarded a penalty kick. Freshman
Izzy McNally converted the penalty kick in the 55
th minute to cut the Knights' lead to 2-1. Wartburg's Morgan Neundorf scored a goal in the 59
th minute and Adair added a goal in the 78
th minute to give the guests a 4-1 lead. Thunder senior

st minute to account for the 4-2 final score. Whitman's header was the result of a
Madison Peebles assist.
Wheaton held a 20-10 advantage in shots, including a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Wartburg was awarded eight corner kicks and Wheaton had four in the match.

Kathryn McGregor made one save and allowed three goals in 60 minutes of work.
Madison Lee allowed one goal in her 30 minutes of action in the net. Wartburg goalkeeper Beth Crow made four saves and allowed two goals.
