Clermont, Fla. – The Thunder softball team dropped a pair of games on Monday in the second day of the team's Spring Break trip to Central Florida. Wheaton lost a 3-2 matchup against Nebraska Wesleyan in the opener and Penn State-Behrend topped the Thunder 5-2 in the second game of the day.
In the first game on Monday morning, Nebraska Wesleyan scored three runs, on four hits with one error and Wheaton tallied two runs, on seven hits with three errors.
Lauren Meurer was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Thunder.
Julia Arthur hit a home run in the contest and
Sophie Kent drove in a run for the 'Orange and Blue'. Pitcher
Kendall Kehres (1-1) took the loss in seven innings. Keheres struck out five NWU batters.
In the morning's second game, Penn State-Behrend scored five runs, on 11 hits, with no errors and Wheaton tallied two runs, on five hits with one error.
Hannah Clark was 2-for-3 in the game, with two runs scored. Clark stole two bases and hit a triple.
Jaclyn McLean connected with a double for the Thunder.
Megan Neuhaus and
Kelly Thornton each drove in a run. McLean (0-2), the Thunder starting pitcher took the loss in 5-1/3 innings of work. She allowed five runs, with only two earned runs.
The Thunder will face Monmouth and Wittenberg on Tuesday morning in a pair of matchups.
