Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton women's basketball team will host the CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament for the third consecutive year as the Thunder will host the four-team event this weekend in King Arena. The winner of the CCIW Tournament will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
Wheaton is the number-one seed in the CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament and will host fourth-seeded Augustana on Friday February 24 at 7:00 p.m. Friday's first semifinal matchup will feature second-seeded Illinois Wesleyan against third-seed Elmhurst at 5:00 p.m. The 2017 CCIW Women's Basketball Tournament Championship Game will feature the semifinal winners in Wheaton's King Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday February 25.
Ticket prices are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors and youth/students, and children under three-years-old will be admitted for free. Students with valid CCIW school ID will be admitted free of charge. As a CCIW Championship event CCIW parent passes, faculty/staff ID's, or Thunder season passes will not be honored.
Wheaton (21-4, 14-2 CCIW) won its ninth CCIW Championship this season. The Thunder are hosting the CCIW Tournament for the fifth time in program history. The Thunder also hosted the tournament in 2006, 2007, 2015 and 2016, winning the tournament title all four of those years. Wheaton is making its 13th appearance in the tournament, which is tied for the most tournament berths in the 14-year history of the tournament. Wheaton has compiled a 13-7 all-time record in the tournament, winning the tournament championship in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2015 and 2016.
