Gallatin, Tenn. – The Wheaton women's basketball team defeated Marywood 75-42 on Saturday to close out its participation in the Music City Classic. Wheaton improves to 7-4 on the season with today's victory.
Hannah Frazier (PICTURED ABOVE) led all players with 12 points and she added eight rebounds with two blocked shots. Frazier's effort highlighted a well-rounded Wheaton effort as seven Thunder players scored six or more points in the game.
Jill Berg scored 11 points with two steals.
Kristi Demski scored nine points.
Kelly Lawson scored eight points with five rebounds and three steals.
Hannah Williams tallied seven points and
Kirsten Madsen scored six points.
Devin Kyler tallied six points with six rebounds and six assists. Eric Van Dusen collected nine rebounds for Wheaton.
The Thunder shot 37.1% (23-of-62) from the field, including 40.7% (11-for-27) from three-point range. Marywood posted a 25.5% (13-of-51) field goal percentage, including 23.1% (3-of-13) behind the three-point arc. Wheaton shot 69.2% (18-of-26) at the free throw line and Marywood posted a 72.2% (13-of-18) free throw percentage. Wheaton held a 45-38 edge in rebounding, including a 19-14 advantage on the offensive glass.
Aryah Aungst led Marywood with eight points. Natasha Hessling led the squad with a team-high six rebounds.
Wheaton resumes conference play on January 3 with a CCIW matchup at Carthage College.
